Herbie Hancock's album Sunlight

Herbie Hancock - Sunlight

1. I Thought It Was You
2. Come Running To Me
3. Sunlight
4. No Means Yes
5. Good Question

This is one of my favorite albums. I had no idea that Herbie Hancock did all of the vocals on this album. Hancock used a vocoder on this album I believe.
He starts the album off with the song "I Thought it was You" which has this nice groove to it. He comes in singing the lyrics and then there is an instrumental interlude where they are just jamming. Jaco Pastorius is playing bass on this album on here as well. The horns start start playing a riff and then in comes Hancock with the lyrics. Then they go into a groove and Hancock begins to improvise on the vocoder. I just find it so amazing. Especially when he sings the words Suddenly and goes into the Chorus. The improvised part sort of breaks down a little bit and in comes Hancock with the scat. Bahp Bahp Bahp bo dwee ah. Classic!!!!

Come Running to Me is another great tune. The melody is beautiful as most of Herbie's melodies are. My favorite part in this song is the bridge. When he starts singing about without no song. It's a very catchy tune.
Just come running to me. With Jaco on the bass with the groove. I can see how William Kurk might have been influenced by this record.

More to come later. Check out the youtube clip below.
